On June 1-2, 2021, the National Waterways Conference (NWC) will be holding a two-day virtual meeting for interested stakeholders and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The sessions will work to educate on USACE’s civil works functions, discuss agency processes, and delve deeper into how to develop a strong working relationship with the agency.

Some of the sessions include, but are not limited to:

  • Brig. Gen. Paul E. Owen, Commander, South Pacific Division, USACE, will discuss  what is going on in the division, as well as key challenges and opportunities to engage with non-federal sponsors.
  • New to the world of civil works, where to start?
  • How USACE districts work, how they differ and how we can work together
  • Examples of USACE and non-federal sponsors working successfully together
  • Breakout sessions. During the breakouts, participants will hear from USACE  district offices, as well as breakouts on latest DC happenings and legal issues in the water resource world.

The Regional Spotlights is a new series that NWC is rolling out in 2021. The Spotlights will focus on various parts of the country, primarily at this point to build and strengthen relationships with USACE and non-federal sponsors and stakeholders, both inside and outside of the “spotlighted” region. Members from outside of the spotlighted area are welcome to join and participate. We have such a diverse membership with incredible knowledge. The Spotlights are a way for us to also learn from one another.
