Congress Working Towards WRDA 16

Efforts to pass a water resources bill in 2016 are moving full steam ahead, with a flurry of activity in both the House and Senate.  Both the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee have introduced their versions of the Water Resources Development Act of 2016, known as “WRDA 16.”  NWC submitted requests to both committees for inclusion in the bills.  They can be viewed here:

The Senate bill, S. 2848, was voted out of committee by a vote of 19-1 in late April.  The comprehensive measure authorizes 25 projects and includes a variety of policy reforms.  In addition, unlike traditional WRDAs, this version includes a substantial number of EPA-related provisions, with more than 50% of the bill addressing drinking water and wastewater provisions.  The full text, a section by section review, and bill highlights can be viewed here:
